The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away at the age of 90, just two days after celebrating his birthday.
The monarch reportedly died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, according to Tribune Online. His passing comes less than a year after he officially ascended the throne.
Oba Olakulehin was presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on July 12, 2024, making him the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
He succeeded the late Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81.
Before his coronation, Oba Olakulehin held the prestigious title of Balogun Olubadan, a key step in the traditional line of succession to the throne.
