OAU students protest, demanding justice for Uniben student
Some students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Tuesday took to the streets to protest incessant rape cases across Nigeria.
According to the students, the rising spate of sexual violence in Nigeria was becoming alarming especially because most cases of sexual violence are not properly investigated and prosecuted.
One of the students whose name is Adejumo Kabir took to his Twitter handle to narrate how they met with the DPO of Modakeke area in Ife.
“The DPO of Modakeke police station agreed with us that the country isn’t secured. Hence, he led his officers to follow us around Ile Ife as we demanded #JusticeForUwa and other rape victims” https://t.co/1jombKSY2Y
During the time of filling this report, PurpleWorld was able to gather that some students under the platform of “Concerned Great Ife Students” also used the opportunity to submit petitions to the Area Commander of Moore Area Command in Ile-Ife and the palace of Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
