National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced an increase in the monthly allowance provided to corps members, starting February 2025.
The allowance will be raised to N77,000, from the current amount.
This was made known by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed who revealed the decision on Thursday while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State.
According to Ahmed, the increment has been factored into the 2025 Federal Government budget and will take effect once the budget is approved.
He confirmed that although the new allowance could not be implemented in January, corps members would start receiving N77,000 from February 2025.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” Ahmed stated.
“We will not send our corps members to any areas with security challenges. Wherever we send them, they should be assured that the place is safe and secure for them to serve,” he added.
