Nnamdi Kanu, leader of a separatist group striving for an independent state of Biafra, IPOB, clock 54 on Saturday.
Kanu, who is facing charges of treason, is currently being held by the Department of State Services (DSS) after he was brought back to Nigeria in June to face trial.
The scheduled trial in July suffered a setback, with the judge adjourning till October 21.
