Retired General Theophilus Y. Danjuma, former Minister of Defense, has issued a fresh call for Nigerians to take charge of their own security, citing the worsening wave of banditry and terrorism plaguing the nation.
Speaking at an Easter appreciation event in Takum Local Government Area, Danjuma warned that government efforts alone are insufficient to curb the escalating violence.
“If our people do not stand up and defend themselves, bandits and terrorists will overrun our society,” Danjuma declared, urging communities to stay vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their environments. He stressed that unity and preparedness are critical to preventing further descent into chaos.
The event also saw Danjuma express gratitude to his staff, partners, and affiliated organizations, with special commendation for the TY Danjuma Medical Centre’s team for their unwavering commitment to providing healthcare under difficult conditions.
