Tracka, a non-governmental organization, has raised concerns over the poor condition of Obamoro Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) located in Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area of Osun State.
The organization, in a statement published on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, following a recent field visit to the health centre revealed severe infrastructural decay, including leaking roofing sheets, dusty and uncovered floors, broken windows, and damaged doors.
Tracka stated that both health workers at the facility and members of the host community confirmed that the deplorable conditions have made it extremely difficult to deliver and access healthcare services safely. The group noted that residents continue to suffer as a result of the state of the facility.
In its statement, Tracka called on Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, alongside other relevant authorities, to urgently intervene. The organization appealed to the Osun State Government, the Osun State Ministry of Health, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, and the Federal Ministry of Health to prioritize the restoration of the centre, stressing that rehabilitation would improve access to quality and affordable healthcare while ensuring the safety of health workers.
Reacting to the statement, an Osogbo-based resident, Prince Hardejarey, criticized the state government’s handling of healthcare and other social services. In a comment responding to Tracka’s post, he accused the Adeleke administration of failing to translate increased federal allocations into tangible improvements for citizens.
“With the geometric increase in Osun State’s allocation, Governor Ademola Adeleke has failed to recruit health workers, school teachers, and acquire necessary health equipment, including renovations,” Hardejarey wrote.
He further alleged that despite what he described as poor service delivery, government officials continue to promote achievements in the media while spending public funds on what he termed “irrelevancies.”
The situation has renewed public debate around healthcare funding, accountability, and governance in Osun State, particularly at the grassroots level where primary healthcare centres serve as the first point of access for many residents.
As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government had not responded to Tracka. Repeated efforts to reach the relevant authorities for comments were unsuccessful.
