In their pursuit for clarity and closure, the family of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, the late Nigerian artist known as Mohbad, has decided to conduct a second autopsy.
Magistrate T.A. Shotobi, presiding over the Ikorodu Coroner Court in Lagos, granted permission for Mohbad’s father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, to arrange for an independent autopsy to be conducted by a licensed pathologist. This critical development occurred on June 26th, following the family’s persistent calls for further investigation into Mohbad’s death.
The court stipulated that Mr. Aloba would cover all associated costs.
A statement signed on behalf of the family by a member of the legal team, Monisola Odumosu, said the autopsy was conducted on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.
The process is divided into two phases; the first phase is complete, and if the cause of d£ath remains unclear, toxicology and histology tests would follow.
The procedure was observed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, along with pathologists appointed by both him and Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi Aloba.
It would be recalled that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023. His initial autopsy, conducted after his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, failed to reveal the cause of d£ath due to decomposition.
