Content creator Folorunsho Olayinka, better known as Finest, has revealed that late comedian Adetola Samad, popularly called Sanku, had yet to complete payment for the SUV that was involved in the accident that claimed his life.
Sanku died on September 2, 2025, when his 2012 Lexus RX 350 plunged into a river along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State. His death was first announced on social media by actor Yemi Elesho.
During a TikTok live session, Finest explained that Sanku bought the Lexus for N25.4 million from JJ Motors Empire and Services Limited.
He paid N7 million upfront on June 5, 2025, and had paid a total of N12.28 million before the accident, leaving a balance of about N13 million.
Finest also said he acted as Sanku’s guarantor for the car purchase because the dealer trusted him.
“I was only a guarantor. The dealer agreed to sell the car to him because of me. He later paid in instalments. So what would be my gain in trying to harm someone who still owed N13 million on the car? That doesn’t make sense. I didn’t even know the driver,” Finest said.
He added that he had voice notes of Sanku appreciating him for standing as guarantor and explained that he even sent money to support those who tried to help the comedian after the accident.
Meanwhile, a close friend of the late comedian, who chose not to be named, claimed that Sanku was under financial pressure and had been considering returning the Lexus in exchange for a Nigerian-used Toyota Venza. According to the friend, he only had about N2.3 million left to complete the payment at the time.
