Lagos CP Arranges Redeployment of CSP Francis Ani Over Harassment, Illegal Detention of Tunde Abass


Lagos Commissioner of police, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered immediate redeployment of CSP Francis Ani, the DPO, Onipanu Division and some of his boys over harassment and the illegal detention of Tunde Abass and one Kabir Mohammed at Onipanu on Friday, 19th March, 2021.


Tunde Abass was tortures by police at the Onipanu Division for recording scene of harassment and forceful arrest of Kabir Mohammed at Onipanu Area of the State on Friday 19th March, 2021 at about 5pm while being stopped for extortion.
Tunde Abass intervened by challenging the wrongful doing of police, and as well streaming the scene live on Facebook. His intervention didn’t go well with the policemen, who promptly pounced on him and almost killed him.


The police boss took the decision on Wednesday, 24th March, 2021, after he perused the report of the investigation into the incident that had gone viral over gross violation of Tunde’s human rights by the notorious DPO and his boys.


The Commissioner of Police has thereafter condemned the act as unprofessionalism and excess use of power, which sends signal to the world that the command is into acts of extortion and wild lawlessness agains law-abiding citizens.


Although there are doubts on the genuineness of CP Odumosu himself, as he is also allegedly in the character of deploying his armed men to brutalize peaceful protesters but plays to the gallery on individual officers’ cases.
It is also in question why deployment should be his resort, when such erring officers ought be punished, paraded like other criminals and even dismissed.
