Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has announced a wage increase for civil servants, approving a new minimum wage of N104,000 for workers in the state.
The governor made the declaration during a meeting with the state labour force at the Government House, Owerri, on Wednesday.
He further disclosed that medical doctors in the state civil service will now earn N533,000 monthly under the revised salary structure.
Governor Uzodimma explained that the wage review was made possible by an upsurge in the state’s internally generated revenue and improved federal allocations.
He stressed that the new pay package is aimed at boosting workers’ morale, enhancing productivity, and stimulating the local economy.
In addition, the governor revealed that his administration has earmarked N16 billion for the settlement of outstanding gratuity arrears owed to pensioners, reaffirming his government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and pensioners’ entitlements.
