I’m Not Supposed To Be In Politics — Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said he is not an extrovert that is highly predisposed to serious social
and partisan political activities. He said this at the gala night to round off the three-day programme of the second ‘Unique University of Port Harcourt Class ‘81 Reunion’ (UU81) which ended on Saturday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.


Jonathan, a member of the Class ‘81 and host of the reunion, said he is trying to figure out if he was an accidental politician. During the event, he and a former Group Executive Director, Finance and Accounts, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Stanley Lawson, who hosted the first
edition in Abuja in 2017, were given awards of honour by the Class ‘81 graduates of the university.


The former president explained that politics involved a lot of talking and other activities which a reserved person may not be easily disposed to doing as against an extrovert. Jonathan while expressing gratitude for the award, said, “You know that I don’t know whether I am an accidental politician because I am supposed not to be a politician.


“If you plant a curve from introvert to extrovert and start zero as the most introvert person and 100 as the most extrovert person, and you plot that continuum, I will be between 35 and
45 on the introvert side. So, I am an introvert.


“An introvert supposed not to be involved in politics because politics involves much talking and you always want to show your presence. But somehow, God has a way of solving
problems.”


He expressed appreciation to the pioneer graduates of the institution for their support and encouragement, especially while in office, adding that he and his wife, Patience, were pleased with the unique get-together.
