Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde declared himself a contender to beat in the 2023 election after promising to serve the full eight years of his constitutionally mandated term.

Makinde made the announcement Friday at the Government House Arcade in Agodi, Ibadan, during a massive praise and end-of-the-year Thanksgiving event with the theme “Halleluyah.”

Dignitaries from all walks of life, including members of state governments and other visitors, were drawn to the massive praise.

While speaking, Makinde said he was unconcerned about the opposition’s plans to band together and remove him from the Agodi Government House in 2023. He urged them to change their minds about something else.

He stated that 2023 is not about creating a new Oyo State, but rather building on the foundation already set by the current administration in the state, known as “Omituntun 2.0,” which is poised to take flight.

Also, Governor Makinde added that, as an engineer by trade, he constructs rather than drawings, warning the opposition to give up on their pipe dreams.

Therefore, he said that the public will soon be informed of the state’s road map for sustainable growth from 2023 to 2027 and beyond.
