The All Progressives Congress (APC) has temporarily shut down its secretariat in mourning following the tragic death of its Director of Administration, Hon. Lateef Adeniji.
Adeniji who is reportedly a vocal defender of Tinubu’s administration was abducted by bandits nearly two months ago in Abuja and, despite the party’s concerted efforts to secure his release, he sadly lost his life in captivity.
Reports indicate that the party paid a ransom of N50 million to the kidnappers, but Adeniji had already been killed a month before the payment was made. The tragic news has left the party in deep sorrow.
In a memo dated April 10, 2025, and signed by the Deputy Director of Administration, Ubagba Abel, the party announced the closure of its secretariat. The closure will last until Monday, April 14, 2025, to allow staff time for reflection and to pray for Adeniji’s family and loved ones.
The memo, titled “Secretariat Closure for the Mourning of the Director of Administration,” stated, “The National Secretary has approved the closure of the National Secretariat from all party/work activities with immediate effect until Monday, April 14, 2025, after receiving the news of the sad demise of the Director of Administration, Hon. AbdulRaif Adekunle Adeniji.”
This move comes as the APC pays tribute to Adeniji, whose tr+gic d+ath has cast a shadow over the party’s activities.
