Nollywood actor Fred Amata has publicly expressed disappointment after discovering that his ex-wife, Agatha, walked their daughter Stephanie down the aisle without his knowledge or consent.
Amata, who is still alive and well, has stated that he was not informed of the wedding plans and is deeply hurt by the fact that his ex-wife chose to exclude him from such an important milestone in their daughter’s life.
Last week, Agatha took to social media to share photos and videos of their daughter Stephanie’s wedding to her Caucasian husband, Aaron. In a video shared by Agatha, she is seen walking Stephanie down the aisle, a role traditionally filled by the bride’s father.
The video raised eyebrows as many wondered why Fred was not the one to walk their daughter down the aisle as the former couple put a united front when their son, Oreva, got married in Nigeria last year.
Reacting in a lengthy post on Facebook, Fred described Agatha’s action as an abomination, adding that it was a challenge to tradition as there is no where in the world, in Africa and even in Delta state where it is allowed for the wife to walk their daughter out in marriage when her father is alive and involved in the child’s life.
In his post, the veteran actor questioned why the wedding date and time were hidden from him, despite his prior blessing. He shared photos of Steph and Aaron coming to see him ahead of the wedding.
He also spoke about his failed marriage and recounted his contributions to Agatha’s success, specifically creating the talk show ‘Inside-Out with Agatha,’ which he claimed made her a household name.
