A video has gone viral online showing an elderly man from Benin City emotionally claiming to be the biological father of Nigerian music star Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid.
In the clip, recorded during a church service, the man alleged that Wizkid’s late mother was married to a man named Balogun, but insists he is the true father of the Grammy-winning singer. Speaking before a clergy and a visibly shocked congregation, he stated that his billionaire son, Wizkid, has abandoned him.
The pastor leading the service told the man that he saw the name “Wizkid” in the spiritual realm and confirmed that the man had a very wealthy son.
“I’m seeing something like Wizkid. Like a name Wisk,” the pastor inquired.
The man then revealed that Wizkid’s birthday is in July and referred to him as a friend of fellow artist Davido. “He’s a billionaire,” he told the Pastor.
The congregation erupted in disbelief upon hearing Wizkid’s name, with some members shouting “Jesus!” while others gasped and cheered loudly.
The man’s claims have surprised many fans on social media, with some expressing skepticism. Wizkid has never publicly acknowledged any father figure other than Alhaji Muniru Olatunji Balogun, who is widely recognized as his father. Alhaji Muniru has made public appearances with Wizkid and was present at the singer’s mother’s burial in October 2023.
