In anticipation of the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, the Nigerian government has announced a two-day national holiday for citizens to celebrate the holiday. Starting from Monday, June 17, and ending on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
This was made known in an official statement released on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, conveyed the Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s congratulations to Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and worldwide, as she declared a two-day holiday to commemorate the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir.
Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim Ummah to emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s virtues of peace, kindness, and self-sacrifice during this festive period. He encouraged the faithful to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for the prosperity, stability, and continued unity of the country.
The statement added, “The minister reiterated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.
“He further enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to support, cooperate and join hands with the president in his sustained efforts to diversify the economy and progressively accelerate the pace of the nation’s economic recovery.
“While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Minister advised all Nigerians to take responsibility in the resolve to hand over a prosperous Nigeria to the nation’s children.”
