Suspected herdsmen ambushed a commercial vehicle along the Otukpo-Adoka road in Benue State on Sunday night, killing the driver and abducting all passengers
According to reports, the attack occurred around 11 p.m. as the vehicle traveled from Abuja to Otukpo.
According to witnesses, the gunmen opened fire upon spotting the vehicle, striking the driver with a bullet. The driver lost control, and the vehicle veered into bushes off the road.
The assailants then kidnapped all passengers and fled, leaving the vehicle abandoned. The driver, identified as a native of Adoka, was killed, and his body has been recovered and taken to his hometown.
Military personnel have arrived at the scene and initiated a manhunt for the attackers, as authorities work to secure the area and rescue the abducted passengers.
