Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has provided an update on the continued detention of social media personality, VeryDarkMan (VDM), by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a very brief statement on Monday evening, Adeyanju revealed that he had visited VDM at the EFCC facility shortly after returning to the country.
“Got into the country this evening and went straight to VDM at EFCC. Just left him,” Adeyanju stated.
He expressed concern and confusion over the circumstances surrounding the arrest, emphasizing the lack of clarity from the EFCC.
“We still cannot understand why he was arrested. EFCC said there’s no petition against him after our repeated demand,” he added.
As of the time of this report, the EFCC has not released an official statement detailing the reasons for VDM’s arrest. Supporters have continued to call for his immediate release, citing concerns about his rights and due process.
