Nigerian social media critic and activist, Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has been remanded in police custody following his arraignment in an Abuja court for cyberbullying charges.
In a recent development, VeryDarkMan, appeared in an Abuja court to face five counts of cyberstalking involving the Nigerian police and Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dike. Otse pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, made a bail application, but the prosecution requested more time to respond, resulting in the court adjourning the hearing to May 29.
Subsequently, VeryDarkman was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre. This follows a court ruling granting the prosecution’s request to remand him as he is facing multiple charges of cyberstalking.
