Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has announced that Quadri Alabi, who has been in custody under the Nigerian Correctional Service, will be produced before the Apapa Magistrate Court on Thursday, April 17, 2025, following a successful application to vary the initial court date.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Effiong revealed: “I am pleased to share that Quadri Alabi is going be produced by the authorities of the Nigerian Correctional Service before the Court tomorrow by 9 AM.”
Alabi’s case was originally scheduled to be heard on “28th April, 2025”, but Effiong, alongside the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), filed an application to have the date moved forward. The court has now granted that request.
“We wrote to the Court to vary the date and to fix the case for tomorrow, Thursday 17th April. The DPP equally made the same application,” Effiong stated.
He further added: “I am delighted to confirm that the variation application has been granted and hearing date has been varied and brought forward as prayed.”
The case will be heard at “the Apapa Magistrate Court located at Orege, Ajegunle – Sikiru Adagun Courthouse (Court No. 9),” where Effiong confirmed that both he and Alabi’s family will be present.
While Effiong did not disclose the specific reason for the expedited hearing, he assured the public that “the reason for this development will be provided at the court.”
He concluded his statement with a powerful declaration: “History will vindicate the just.”
