Bandits Kill Two, Kidnap Village Head in Kwara’s Patigi Area
Fear has taken over Rani community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State after gunmen attacked the village on Sunday night.
The attackers killed two people and kidnapped the village head and another resident.
Witnesses who spoke with Reporters from ThisDay said the bandits came around 7 p.m. while people were getting ready for Maghrib prayer. They started shooting to scare everyone before carrying out the attack.

“They came while we were about to pray. They shot into the air, and everyone ran. They killed two people and took our village head and one other man,” a resident said. “Since then, we have not heard from them.”
People in the area are now living in fear and can no longer go to their farms or sleep peacefully at night.
“We are not safe. We can’t go to the farm because we are afraid. We beg the government to send more security men to protect us,” another villager said.
A police officer at the Patigi Divisional Police Office confirmed the attack. He said the matter had been reported to the Kwara State Police Command and that efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims.
This attack happened just weeks after another incident in Ekati village, also in Patigi, where bandits killed Reverend James Audu Issa of the Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA.
The pastor was killed even after his family paid ₦5 million out of the ₦100 million ransom demanded. The kidnappers later asked for an extra ₦45 million before killing him.
