PremiumTimes has made available a new report concerning Muhammed Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, who was alleged to have rejected his recent appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to a report by Premium Times, Mr Babangida has accepted the federal appointment and has described the viral rejection letter as “false and malicious.”
In a statement released on Monday, he firmly distanced himself from the reports, which he said were designed to mislead the public and undermine the credibility of the Tinubu administration.
“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement read.
The report also confirmed that the statement was authenticated by Kazeem Afegbua, a long-time spokesperson for former President Babangida.
It further warned that those responsible for fabricating and circulating the fake letter would be investigated and prosecuted.
“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” it added.
This clarification provides further insight into our earlier reports, confirming that the letter purportedly addressed to the president, claiming Muhammed Babangida declined the appointment due to “personal and professional considerations” might have been forged.
