Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, also known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), has taken Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and five other officials to court over the process of installing the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
According to the document, K1 filed the case at the Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode, asking the court to stop the governor and others from taking any further steps toward installing a new Awujale.
The other people named in the suit include: The Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
The musician is claiming interest in the vacant royal stool, saying his family lineage is connected to the Jadiara Royal House, which is part of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
However, members of the ruling house have rejected his claim. They insist that K1 has no family or royal link to the Fusengbuwa Royal House and is therefore not qualified to contest the stool.
In a motion ex parte filed before High Court 2 under Suit No: HC3/238/2025, K1 asked the court to issue an interim injunction. This injunction would stop all actions related to the selection and installation of a new Awujale until the main case is fully heard and decided.
The suit, dated December 16, was filed under relevant sections of the Ogun State High Court Civil Procedure Rules and Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees the right to fair hearing.
K1 told the court that the injunction is necessary to protect his interest and prevent the installation process from continuing while the case is still pending.
As of now, the court has not fixed a date for the hearing of the case.
