Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Comrade Emmanuel Adebisi, for allegedly diverting 70 bags of rice.
Following the suspension of the SSA, the civil society coalition in the State stepped forward with a troubling revelation. According to the coalition’s Secretary, Comrade Olowu Emmanuel, the 70 bags of rice meant for the coalition were never delivered, adding credence to the allegations of Adebisi’s misconduct. This development deepens the scandal, raising questions about the extent of the alleged corruption and Adebisi’s motive in diverting the rice intended for the coalition.
According to sources, Adebisi purportedly collected 70 bags of rice, claiming they were destined for the civil society coalition’s office, but never actually delivered them.
This alleged fraudulent activity caught the attention of the governor, who swiftly took action against Adebisi. In a statement, the civil society coalition’s Secretary, Emmanuel, attested to the coalition’s non-receipt of the rice, thus corroborating the accusations.
“There has never been a time, since the coming of this administration that anything meant for civil societies delivered. Not even palliative meant to alleviate suffering or the people of the State.”
Despite these allegations, Adebisi took to his verified Facebook page to deny the suspension. He wrote;
“The claims suggesting I Emmanuel Adebisi have been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false. I continue to serve diligently in my capacity as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State, with unwavering commitment to my responsibilities. Any insinuation of my involvement in misconduct, particularly relating to the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice intended for Osun Civil Societies during the Eid-el-Kabir festival, is entirely baseless and without merit and the hand work of some bitter politicians and I challenge anyone with fact on this to bring it out”
However, a statement released on Wednesday, July 3, by Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the suspension of Adebisi with immediate effect. The Governor stated that the suspension would remain in place pending the outcome of an investigation led by his Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye.
The statement read;
“The Governor has directed immediate suspension of the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Comrade Emmanuel Adebisi, pending outcome of investigations by the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Hon Kazeem Akinleye”
