A Missing Oba? – Written by Adeola Soetan

“Oba Ku San Ju Oba Nun Lo” (A dead king is better than a missing king)

Oba of Ipetumodu, Joseph Olugbenga Oloyede’s whereabout is unknown. According to the media reports , the king was seen last by his subjects and town people in April, 2024. Since then, his people including Chiefs are left to guess the whereabout of their Kabiyesi who has not been attending to important cultural, traditional and administrative duties in the sleepy village town in Osun state, of mostly peasant farmers. Probably only his Olori can be sure where her husband is.

Some said the Oba is sick receiving medical treatment in a hidden hospital like some of our sick presidents and governors did. Many alleged that the Kabiyesi is facing fraud trial in the US over Covid – 19 fund. What matters most is that the US based Oba is missing and he remains incommunicado.

It’s guite strange that an Oba Alade (crowned king) is missing. We have heard of Obas murdered or kidnapped by Boko Haram and other violent bandits, Oba beating to coma for misbehavior, Oba jailed or detained in police & prison custody, Oba slapped at a party, Oba tweaking at Owambe party with over ornamental Yellow Sisi. Oba using naira notes as necklace. Oba helping rogue politicians to rig elections, Oba as rapist, smoking & wrapping kukuye laced with while powder as caught on camera by his wife. But this is the first time I am hearing of a missing Oba whose whereabout is unknown for almost a year now. Oba has now become a needle lost in the ocean and the search continues. That’s interesting!

I hereby donate this space to Ipetumodu people to help search for their missing king. I also want to appeal to all Yoruba sons and daughters to begin 200 biribiri fasting days beginning from tomorrow for God’s intervention so that Oba Ipetumodu will be found.

Please excuse me from the 200 Biribiri Fasting period because in most cases, those who call for fasting don’t usually fast to balance the equation of life.
