A non-governmental organization, Tracka, has raised concern over the non-execution of a ₦200 million federal government project meant for the reconstruction and remodeling of Nawarudeen Primary School, Isale Ijeun, in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to Tracka, the project was captured in the 2025 Federal Government budget for the renovation of the public primary school. However, findings from the organization’s tracking exercise show that no work has been carried out at the school site.
Tracka disclosed this in a post on its official Facebook page on Friday, where it shared pictorial evidence showing the current state of the school. The organization described the school buildings as extremely old, weak, and unsafe, warning that the structures could collapse at any time.
Due to the poor condition of the buildings, Tracka reported that all pupils of Nawarudeen Primary School have been relocated to a nearby hall owned by the Nawarudeen Society. Pupils from Primary One to Primary Six now share a single hall for learning.
The organization noted that the lack of physical boundaries within the hall has made learning very difficult, as classes often turn into a commotion. It added that many parents in the community cannot afford private primary schools, making the renovation of the public school very important and urgent.
Tracka called on the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), which is listed as the implementing agency for the project, to provide the public with full details of the ₦200 million allocation and to immediately facilitate the execution of the project.
The group emphasized that public funds meant for education must be used as approved to ensure the safety and proper learning environment of Nigerian children.
